We’ve got CRM 2011 demos!

July 12, 2011

With the release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 earlier this year, we’ve been busy upgrading DefenseReady to this new version.  DefenseReady 2011 will bring a ton of enhanced functionality to our customers, such as in-line interactive charts and rich dashboards.  As work is completed on the new version, we have been updating our flash demos to show off these features.

The first demo was released in April, but it just focused on Data Visualization functionality.  This month, we revised our existing DefenseReady Overview demo so you can see how 2011 impacts all parts of the product.  The demo covers all three main areas of the product, including Workforce, Mission, and Training.

You can watch this updated Overview demo on our website, or check it out on YouTube

Let us know what you think!  And contact your Engagement Manager for a personalized 2011 demo.

The Q1 2011 release of DefenseReady brings new end-user capabilities as well as updates that support customers’ upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.  This release also marks the introduction of DefenseReady features that will focus on an Employee Self Service center.

We’ve added an enhanced Validate My Data component that integrates with SharePoint and allows administrators to enforce data validation at regular intervals.  DefenseReady leverages CRM’s built-in case management features to route issues to the proper offices to ensure data validation issues are resolved in a timely and accountable manner.

For security managers, we’ve added several new areas, including foreign travel requests and contacts, facility authorizations, and caveat assignments.  For workforce, we’ve released a transmittal log feature that integrates with our existing Military Orders capability.

We’re also proud to announce several new optional components – RECON, a visually enhanced ad-hoc query tool; WebDAV, which allows for much improved usability with attachments; and a SharePoint web part that allows users to easily add DefenseReady views to their pages.

Next on our roadmap is the continuation of our Employee Self Service center – users can look forward to improved awards routing, document routing, and easier access to forms.  We look forward to a productive summer!

Our latest flash demo focuses on horizontal functionality rather than a particular area of the product.  The “Visualization” demo shows different ways to make sense of your DefenseReady data, allowing decision-makers to predict and react with confidence.

  • Recon for DefenseReady
  • Mapping
  • Charts and Graphs
  • Dashboards
  • SharePoint

Some of these features are brand new to the product, with the release of DefenseReady 2011 (built on Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011).  If you’re an existing customer who hasn’t seen what 2011 can do, talk to your Engagement Manager to schedule a demo.  If you aren’t currently a DefenseReady customer, visit this page to request a demo.

The Visualization Demo can be viewed on YouTube, or on our website.

These Visualization features are a vital part of our Unified Readiness strategy.  Please use the “Share” link at the top of this post to pass this demo on to others.  Thanks!

Integration Software – a case study

One of our partners, Stone Bond Technologies, has published a case study about the use of their Enterprise Enabler Integration Software with our DefenseReady line-of-business solutions.

Permuta has acquired Enterprise Enabler licenses for DefenseReady customers, in order to facilitate the synchronization of data with DefenseReady.  Our CTO, Dave Milton, envisions using the solution to synchronize data at different levels and in different groups:  “It could be used to synchronize data on different levels of classification, such as secret versus top secret, or segment data access by geography within a command or by headquarters and department.”  To find out about Enterprise Enabler, please consult your Engagement Manager.

Tough Mudder

February 24, 2011

Team “Permutans” (like Spartans…) has just signed up for the 2011 Tough Mudder challenge!

“It’s Ironman meets Burning Man, and it is coming to a city near you.  Our 10-12 mile obstacle courses are designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.  Forget finish times.  Simply completing a Tough Mudder is a badge of honor.  All Tough Mudder sponsorship proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project.”

We’re participating in the Virginia event on October 22.  We’ll be spending the next few months whipping our developers into shape, and of course, accepting donations for Wounded Warrior.  To donate on behalf of our team captain, please go to this page:

The DefenseReady 2010 Q4 Workforce release focused on Orders Log management for what many organizations call “Temporary Orders.”  Whether administrators are dealing with pay orders, leave orders, or other types of temporary orders, DefenseReady allows them to authorize, terminate, revoke, amend, and void orders.  The system can be configured to allow for unique logs per unit, or for shared logs, with unique order number generation for each log.

For Mission, we’ve added some capabilities to Task Force management that allow for contacts to be projected into future task force assignments.  Administrators can now enter task force members and augmentees in a “planning” status, which provides visibility over incoming personnel and gives users a place to track the progress of an inbound resource.

The Medical component of DefenseReady received some new standard forms, as well as configurations that allow for contacts to be exempt from certain vaccinations, and for medical file records to be automatically generated when contacts enter the workforce.

Behind the scenes, we’ve made plenty of infrastructure changes that will help our customers make the transition to CRM 2011 seamlessly, and we’re continuing to work hard as we anxiously await the release of CRM 2011 On-Premise.
